Is it necessary for me to hire a Solicitor in order to sell my own home?
Some sellers are under the impression that estate agents play some role in the legal aspect of selling a property. This is not the case. Once you have found a buyer and agreed a price then all matters are handed over to your Solicitor who will close the sale. From a Solicitors point of view it does not matter where you find your buyer. The work they do is the same whether you use an estate agent or not.

We would suggest that you retain a Solicitor to prepare the legal documentation needed to complete your sale. To avoid potential future litigation, the terms of the sale must be clearly laid out and meticulously completed. Any error could severely set back the entire transaction. You should enlist the help of a solicitor and your best option is to find someone prior to finding a buyer and work out an arrangement. Once you and the buyer have agreed to the negotiated terms, your solicitor will draw up necessary paperwork.
